Switzerland's Skyguide Certified for Single European Sky
The Swiss Federal Office
of Civil Aviation (FOCA) has certified skyguide for the Single European Sky
(SES) allowing the ANSP (air navigation service provider) to continue
controlling air traffic in Switzerland and elsewhere in Europe.
Eurocontrol Accepts Industry Targets for SESAR Vision and Performance
Eurocontrol has formally
accepted the vision, performance targets, and recommendations for short-term
improvements, formulated by a consortium of 30 companies and organizations,
for Europe's future airspace.

Continental Approved for RNP Approaches to Newark's Runway 29
The FAA has approved the
use of RNP (required navigation performance) approaches by Continental
Airlines to Newark Liberty's Runway 29 - the same runway to which a
Continental B-737 crew mistakenly landed on an adjacent parallel taxiway in
October.
Landmark Aviation Gets STC for Pro Line 21 IDS on Falcon 50s
Landmark Aviation
received a STC (supplemental type certificate) for its installation of
Rockwell Collins' IDS (integrated display system) on Dassault Falcon 50s.
Airbus Flight Tests Turbulence Prediction System on A340
Airbus is flight testing
a LIDAR (light detection and ranging) technology to measure clear-air
turbulence (CAT) ahead of an aircraft to warn pilots of its presence.
FAA to Integrate Alaskan Capstone into Its National ADS-B Program
The FAA plans to
integrate its Alaskan Capstone project into its national ADS-B (automatic
dependent surveillance-broadcast) program.
FlightSafety to Provide Online Training for Garmin Avionics
FlightSafety
International will become a preferred online training provider for Garmin's
panel-mounted avionics products.
Four U.S. Airports Sign for Various PASSUR Applications
Dallas Fort Worth
International, Boston Logan, Orlando, as well as Detroit's Metro and Willow
Run have selected various airport applications from Metadata's PASSUR suite
of airport tools to help manage their operations.
SITA Launches "Next Generation" Passenger Check In
SITA has launched what it
calls its next generation check-in application that will enable airlines to
have their own proprietary applications running on CUTE (common-use terminal
equipment) for the first time.
Four New York Airports to Use Rannoch Systems for Tracking and Billing
The Port Authority of
New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ) will use two Rannoch systems to improve
its ability to identify and track aircraft that use its airports, and to
automatically collect the data necessary for operational and billing
purposes.
