EASA Approves CFM56-Powered A318s for Steep Approaches
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved A318s, including the A318
Elite, fitted with CFM International CFM56 engines for so-called steep
approaches. EASA approved the same airplanes powered with Pratt and Whitney
PW6000 engines this past June.
Final Test Completed to Begin India's Wide-Area GPS Augmentation
The Raytheon Company has completed the final system acceptance test necessary to begin augmenting standard GPS signals over India.
Northrop Grumman Subsidiary Installed Norway's Satellite Landing System
Northrop Grumman Corporation's European-based subsidiary, Park Air Systems, developed and
installed the ground-based elements of the SCAT-I (special category one)
precision approach and landing system that will now be used for regular
operations at Brønnøysund Norway. |

FAA Extends NPRM Comment Deadline for ADS-B Equipage
The FAA has extended the comment period for its NPRM (notice of
proposed rulemaking) for proposed performance requirements for ADS-B (automatic
dependent surveillance-broadcast) avionics equipment on aircraft operating in
specified classes of airspace within the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS). |

Germany's DFS Approves Transtech's Ground Surveillance and Display System
Germany's Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) granted Transtech Control a type approval for the company's
CAMS (ground surveillance and display system) based on European and ICAO A-SMGCS
(advanced-surface movement guidance and control system) and SMR (surface
movement radar) operational and functional standards.
