NTSB Wants Airlines to Improve Stopping Distance Assessments
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is recommending to the FAA that Part
121, 135, and 91 subpart K operators be required to conduct arrival landing
distance assessments before every landing based on actual conditions existing at
the time, and to incorporate a minimum safety margin of 15 percent.
FAA Adopts ICAO Definition for Runway Incursions
Effective immediately, the FAA will use ICAO's definition for a runway incursion in order
to standardize its uses and help determine common factors that contribute to
these incidents.
Honeywell RAAS Authorized for Gulfstream PlaneView
The FAA has
certified Honeywell's RAAS (runway awareness and advisory system) for all large
cabin Gulfstream PlaneView flight decks with Honeywell's Primus Epic
architecture. |

L-3 Will Upgrade NEXRAD
The National Weather Service (NWS) has awarded L-3 Enterprise IT Solutions a $43
million contract to upgrade the U.S. NEXRAD (next generation weather radar)
program along with Baron Services, which supplies weather radar systems.
COMSOFT to Integrate WAM and ADS-C into Eurocontrol's ARTAS
COMSOFT will integrate WAM (wide area multilateration) and ADS-C automatic dependent
surveillance-contract) into Eurocontrol's new ARTAS (air traffic management
surveillance tracker and server system) to improve its tracking capability and
coverage.
FAA Proposes Initial ADS-B Mandate by 2020
The FAA is proposing that all aircraft flying in U.S. controlled airspace be equipped
with ADS-B (automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast) avionics by 2020.
Aircraft not flying in controlled airspace won't be required to have ADS-B
avionics, but may choose to do so in order to realize the safety benefits. |

ARINC to Expand Satcom Broadband Coverage in Caribbean, South America
ARINC Direct will expand its in-flight satellite broadband communications service for
business jets in the Caribbean as well as Central and South America, during this
year's fourth quarter, along with SES AMERICOM, its SKYLink investor and strategic partner.
Ornge to Use Latitude Technologies' Satcom
Ornge, which provides aero-medical transport services over much of Ontario, will use Latitude
Technologies' satellite phones for its air to ground communications. |

Gulfstream Selects AirCell Axxess as Standard for Large-Cabin Jets
Gulfstream Aerospace will offer AirCell's Axxess cabin communications system as
standard factory equipment aboard its entire family of large-cabin business jets.
AirCell to Offer SwiftBroadband for Business Aircraft in Late 2008
AirCell says it will offer a SwiftBroadband product for the business aviation market
that will provide global inflight voice and data connectivity, at up to 432 kbps
(kilobits per second) per channel.
AirCell Axxess II to Be Optional on Hawker 750 and 900XP
AirCell's Axxess satellite communications system will be offered as an option on new
Hawker 900XPs and Hawker 750s, based on a STC (supplemental type certificate)
developed by Hawker Beechcraft Corporation's designated alteration station at
Little Rock. |

model X) is now operational.

Denver International Airport
has contracted for the Megadata's PASSUR OPSnet CDM (collaborative
decision-making) application for managing daily activities as well as dealing
with irregular events such as snow and ice, lightning, and construction. |

Augusta A109 Fitted with Latitude Technologies Voice and Tracking System
The first U.S.-based Augusta A109 Grand Helicopter has been fitted with a Latitude
Technologies' Web-based satellite voice and tracking system, partly in
preparation for an around-the-world speed record attempt in a rotary-wing
aircraft.
Santa Clara to Use Era's Flight Tracking and Noise Monitoring
California's Santa Clara County will use Era Corporation's Web-based noise and
operations management system and multilateration flight tracking at its Reid
Hillview Airport.
ARINC Direct Adds Flight Planning Capability for Mobile Devices
ARINC Direct is adding wireless mobile flight planning to its portfolio of services for
business jet operators. |
