NATCA Gives Its Okay to ASDE-X
The National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) says it's looking forward to the commissioning of ASDE-X (airport surface detection equipment - model X) at Chicago O'Hare and Charlotte later this month.

 

Honeywell Will Provide R&D Expertise for Air Force's JPALS
The U.S. Air Force has selected Honeywell to provide research and development expertise for the its JPALS (joint precision approach and landing system) aimed at achieving a land-based DGPS (differential global positioning system) that will enhance GPS signals sufficiently to enable category II and III approaches.

 

Virgin Atlantic Latest Airline to Opt for Boeing's Airplane Health Management
Virgin Atlantic Airways will use Boeing's AHM (airplane health management) system to monitor the in-flight condition of its thirteen B-747-400s, becoming the latest in a growing list of airlines to adopt the maintenance technology.  Virgin also said it would work with Boeing on developing "sustainable" biofuels suitable for commercial jet engines.
