L-3 Says ACSS SafeRoute System Set for Certification
L-3 announced that
Aviation Communications and Surveillance Systems (ACSS) a company jointly
owned by it and Thales, submitted TSO (technical standard order)
documentation to the FAA for its ADS-B (automatic dependent
surveillance)-based arrival sequencing and surface navigation system. UPS
Airlines plans to begin a fleet-wide installation of the system, called SafeRoute, beginning this summer.
Colorado to Commence ADS-B Project for Mountain Airports
The Colorado Department
of Transportation (CDOT) intends to provide radar-like surveillance for its
mountain airports, using an ADS-B (automatic dependent
surveillance-broadcast)-based system.
Embraer 190 with Dual Rockwell Collins HGS Certified for CAT III
A dual-configuration
Rockwell Collins HGS (head-up guidance system) has been certified
by the FAA, the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the
European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for CAT III operations.

FAA Renews ARINC's Contract for VHF Network in Gulf of Mexico
The FAA has extended its
contract with ARINC to provide extended-range VHF air traffic control voice
communications over the Gulf of Mexico for three more years.

L-3 Communications is
introducing a class-2 EFB (electronic flight bag) with several novel
applications for business and regional airline users, as well as larger air
transports.

Lufthansa Airlines is
evaluating Goodrich Corporation's new laptop docking station EFB (electronic
flight bag) on one of its A340s.
Emirates Airline Selects Goodrich Laptop Docking Station EFB
Emirates Airline has selected Goodrich Corporation's
laptop docking station EFB (electronic flight bag) for all of its B-747,
B-777, and A310, A330 and A340 aircraft.
Oslo to Expand Surface Surveillance with HITT & Era Technologies
The Oslo Airport will
expand its surface surveillance with Era Corporation's multilateration and
ADS-B (automatic dependent surveillance) sensors and vehicle tracking units,
and controller display technology from HITT (Holland Institute of Traffic
Technology).
