FAA Authorizes Naverus to Provide RNP Procedures to Operators and Airports
The FAA has authorized
Naverus to develop RNP (required navigation performance) procedures for
third parties, such as airlines, airports, and other aircraft operators.
This authorization is in addition to the FAA's recent naming of Naverus to
be an
approved consultant for RNP operations.

is reporting that the FAA plans to propose a
deadline of 2017 for U.S. airlines to equip their fleets with VDL-2 (VHF
digital link mode 2) avionics.

has released a new training aid designed to reduce approach-and-landing
accidents, for its members.
Delta Assisting WheelTug with Novel Aircraft Ground Movement
Delta Air Lines has
agreed to assist WheelTug in developing a new system that would enable an
aircraft to back away from gates without a traditional tractor-tug, and taxi
to-and-from takeoff and landing points with its engines shut down.
