Hickok & Associates Developing WAAS Approaches for Helicopters
Hickok & Associates is developing WAAS (wide area augmentation system) LP (localizer
performance) and LPV (localizer performance with vertical guidance) approaches
for helicopters, following the FAA's approval of the company's WAAS PinS
(point-in-space) approach construction criteria in January.
AVTECH Acquires New B-737 NG Simulator for 4D Flight Research
Sweden-based AVTECH has acquired a B-737 NG (next generation) simulator that
will be used to conduct research and demonstrations on four-dimensional
trajectory (4DT) flight operations that includes time.
Honeywell Delivers New Helicopter Navigation System to Sterling Aviation
Honeywell has delivered a new navigation system, called Sentinel,
to Sterling Aviation for use with the East Anglian Air Ambulance service on its Eurocopter BK117.
FAA Certifies Eclipse Aviation's Weather Radar System
The FAA has certified Eclipse Aviation's new weather radar system
that was designed by Eclipse and Japan Radio Co., Ltd. (JRC). JRC will
manufacture and supply all radar components for the Eclipse 500 VLJ (very light jet). |

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will deploy a Stratech Systems
runway surveillance system at Singapore's Changi Airport to reduce the dangers

Moscow's Domodedovo Chooses SITA's Passenger Handling Systems
Moscow's Domodedovo airport has selected SITA's self-service
passenger check-in kiosks and shared-use agent workstation positions to handle
its expected 18% growth in passengers this year.
FAA to Install Runway Crossing Warning System at LAX
The FAA and the City of Los Angeles have partnered to install a
series of embedded red lights in the pavement at pertinent locations on the Los
Angeles International Airport (LAX) that will warn pilots about potentially unsafe runway crossings. |

Virgin Atlantic Operates Commercial Flight with Biofuel
Boeing, Virgin Atlantic and GE Aviation conducted the first
commercial aviation flight using a biomass-to-liquid fuel mixed with traditional
kerosene-based jet fuel to demonstrate its technical feasibility. Questions
remain about its economics, however.
