New Zealand, U.S. and Australia Agree to Accelerate Ways to Reduce Emissions
Airways New Zealand, New Zealand's ANSP (air navigation services provider), has signed a trilateral
agreement with the FAA and Airservices Australia to accelerate the development
of air traffic control procedures which the parties believe will reduce
aviation's environmental footprint, while increasing airspace capacity and efficiency.
Singapore to Replace Current ATM System with Thales LORADS III
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will replace its current LORADS
II ATM (air traffic management) system with Thales LORADS III. |

Eurocontrol Continues Progress toward Mode S for Operational Use
Eurocontrol used a Mode-S downlink for the first time in January to identify and maintain surveillance of
a flight without the assignment of a discrete secondary surveillance radar code.
FAA Approves Honeywell's Integrated Surveillance System
The FAA granted Honeywell a TSO (technical standard order) for its Aircraft Environment
Surveillance System (AESS), the first and only integrated surveillance system to obtain this approval.
Airbus to Offer Honeywell Advanced Traffic Surveillance System
Honeywell has signed a contract with Airbus to provide the industry's first Airborne Traffic
Situational Awareness (ATSAW) system to be certified and installed on Airbus's
A320 and A330/A340 families of aircraft. The technology will be available for
Airbus new production aircraft as well as for retrofit after certification.
Airlines Propose European Sites for ADS-B Implementation
Seventeen European airlines have identified seventy airports across the continent where they believe ADS-B
(automatic dependence surveillance-broadcast) could be most usefully deployed. Eurocontrol will now approach the appropriate ANSPs (air navigation service
providers) to see if these implementations are feasible. |

Honeywell Receives TSO for Primus Apex on Pilatus PC-12E
Honeywell has received TSO (technical standard order) from the FAA for its
Primus Apex integrated avionics system on the Pilatus PC-12E.
FAA Approves Honeywell's Integrated Primary Flight Display System
The FAA has granted Honeywell a TSO (technical standard order) for its IPFD (integrated
primary flight display) that gives a pilot a synthetic real-time, 3D
representation of terrain and obstacles on an aircraft's primary flight displays.
EGNOS Used for Successful Approach Trial at San Sebastian
The European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) was used to guide an aircraft's approach to
landing at San Sebastian, Spain, earlier this month.
FAA Certifies 1,000th WAAS-Based Approach Procedure
AOPA says the FAA has implemented the 1,000th GPS-based instrument approach that uses WAAS (wide
area augmentation system).
Emirates to Use Lufthansa Systems' Electronic Navigation Charts
Emirates Airline will begin phasing into the use of Lufthansa Systems'
electronic charts this spring. The airline's decision follows its recent step
to extend the use of Lufthansa Systems flight planning and dispatch system for another five years. |

and is making it available for all of its in-production business jets as well as

Little Rock National Airport has purchased subscriptions to the audit module of Megadata's PASSUR landing fee
management program and "Web dashboard" to help maximize its landing fees
revenues, and reduce costs while improving its operational communications and coordination.
DFS Selects Era System for Surface Surveillance at Hamburg
Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS), Germany's ANSP (air navigation service provider), has
selected Era to provide multilateration surface surveillance for Hamburg's
planned A-SMGCS (advanced surface movement guidance and control system). |
