PARC Chairman Laments Slow Progress of RNP Approach Approvals
Dave Nakamura,
the chairman of the FAA's Performance-Based Operations Aviation
Rulemaking Committee (PARC), told the FAA's recent New Technologies
Workshop that the number of RNP (required navigation performance)
SAAAR (special aircrew and aircraft authorization required)
operations and criteria aren't meeting expectations.
EVS Suppliers Working to Increase Performance
Representatives
from EVS
(enhanced vision system) suppliers, Max-Viz and CMC Electronics,
discussed ways they are attempting to increase the performance and
utility of their systems at the FAA's New Technology Workshop earlier
this month.
FAA to Publish Nearly 100 RNAV/RNP Procedures in 2007
The FAA is planning to
publish more than 92 RNAV/RNP (area navigation/required navigation
performance procedures in 2007.
Australia Moving toward Regular Ground- Augmented Satellite Approaches
Keith McPherson, the
manager of GNSS (global navigation satellite system) for Airservices
Australia, told the recent FAA New Technologies Workshop, that black-label
(production) GBAS (ground-based augmentation system) units could be
available for category-1 approaches in the first quarter of 2008. |

Eleven European Airlines Preparing for ADS-B Trial
Eleven European airlines
will ask the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to approve the
airworthiness of their existing ADS-B (automatic dependent
surveillance-broadcast) installations in preparation for their participation
in Eurocontrol's
CASCADE ADS-B and datalink program. |

The FAA has issued a
STC (supplemental type certification) to Innovative Solutions & Support
(IS&S) for a more comprehensive B-757 flat panel display system.
EASA Approves Shadin's RVSM STC for Several Citation Models
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved Shadin Avionics' STC
(supplemental type certificate) for the RVSM (reduced vertical separation
minima) air data system it developed for Cessna Citation 500s, 550s, S550s,
and 560s. |

held February 7-8, 2007, at the Sheraton Hotel in Annapolis Maryland. A
