Jetstar Gains RNP Approval for Its A320s
Jetstar recently received approval from Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to conduct RNP (required navigation performance) operations with its A320s.

ERA Wants More Continuous Descent Approaches in Europe

FAA Certifies Gulfstream's Second Generation EVS and Synthetic Vision
The FAA has certified Gulfstream Aerospace's SV-PFD (synthetic vision-primary flight display) system and its EVS II (second generation enhanced vision system) for applications on the G350, G450, G500 and G550.  This means Gulfstream is the first OEM (original equipment manufacturer) able to provide its customers with both enhanced and synthetic vision systems.

American Airlines Begins Installing Aircell's Broadband Connectivity for Passengers
American Airlines has completed the first aircraft installation of an Aircell passenger communications system at its Kansas City maintenance base. The airline plans to install and test AirCell's internet broadband technology on all 15 of its B-767-200s, which primarily fly transcontinental routes.

Southwest and Row 44 to Test Satellite Broadband Internet
Southwest Airlines is partnering with Row 44 to test satellite-delivered broadband Internet access on four of its B-737s; they hope to commence the evaluation this summer.

 

Airservices Australia Wants to Revamp Towers with New Technology
Airservices Australia is releasing a tender for new communications and equipment that would be required as part of a control tower technology upgrade program, codenamed Project Mercury, which could involve as many as 26 airports.
