Alteon Opens New London Gatwick Training Center
Alteon Training, a wholly owned Boeing subsidiary, opened a new aviation training center near London's Gatwick Airport, its third new facility this year.
Alteon's Gatwick center will host training for pilots, engineers and cabin crews and also will become the headquarters of Jeppesen UK, another Boeing subsidiary. Jeppesen will use the new location for marketing its portfolio of navigational, operational and flight planning, and training tools to European customers, and to base its international trip planning services in Europe. The facility will also host Jeppesen Academy soft skills training to pilots, dispatchers and other flight operations personnel.
The facility currently houses three full-flight simulators: one B-737-700/800, one B-757/767 and one A320, each of which is certified to JAA Level C/D standards. The center will also offer EASA Part 147 training courses for B-737-300/-400/-500, B-737-600/-700/-800 and B-777 pilots. Alteon says the facility will soon be expanded to house up to six full-flight simulators.
The London Gatwick Training Centre is the company's third in the UK, joining the existing Alteon training facilities in Luton and Manchester. 09-17-2004.
