Virgin Atlantic to Use Carmen Systems' Crew Planning

Carmen Systems says Virgin Atlantic Airways will use its crew planning system to help manage the scheduling of its 3,800 flight crew members.

According to Matthew Lee, Virgin Atlantic’s director of flight operations, the ability to optimize crew planning options with Carmen's simulation capabilities and proprietary rule language, Carmen Rave, was particularly important to Virgin Atlantic.  "With Carmen Rave we will now be able to run accurate rostering simulations…. Carmen's sophisticated optimization engine will allow us to better match our flying demand against crew resourcing levels at the same time optimizing our crew's lifestyle requests."

Virgin Atlantic plans to have the new system in place by March 2005.  08-25-2004.
