Navitaire Acquires Caleb Technologies
Decision-Support Capabilities
Navitaire, an Accenture
company, has acquired several Caleb Technologies’ airline
operational applications, including a decision-support tool that
helps operational planners recover from flight disruptions in
the most optimal way.
RecoverySuite recommends the
best possible options to airline planners and dispatchers on how
to get return aircraft and crew to their previous schedules, and
how to handle passengers as expeditiously as possible. Navitaire
also acquired what was Caleb’s Pairing Solver, which helps an
airline optimize its monthly crew work-pattern assignments and
CrewResource Solver, which helps manage ongoing crew staffing,
training and deployment.
Each of these new products
enable airlines to examine multiple options and find the best
possible solution in minutes, rather than the hours necessary to
collect data and create choices manually, Navitaire says.
Navitaire says it is expanding
its portfolio of information technology solutions for airlines
as part of its strategy to serve the sector better. Since its
creation in 1993, Navitaire has broadened its hosted airline
services to include reservations, direct distribution, revenue
accounting, revenue protection, revenue management and
decision-support services.
As part of this transaction,
Navitaire has assumed all of Caleb’s customer contracts,
including those with American, AirTran, Continental, Delta,
JetBlue and Northwest, which were already Navitaire customers.
With this acquisition, Southwest is added to Navitaire’s
customer list as well. 04-15-2004.
