Aeropostal Using Sabre Flight Operations Applications via Web
Venezuela's Aeropostal has
begun using Sabre Solutions crew management and movement
management systems delivered to the airline via the Internet.
Sabre's AirCrews and
AirOps Movement Manager are installed on Unix servers, using the
ASP (application service provider) model, where the application
remains on Sabre's system. In this case, Aeropostal personnel
access these applications on their regular PC desktops through
Sabre’s
eMergo Web-enabled and dedicated network.
Sabre says this
arrangement gives Aeropostal access to tools used by larger
airlines, with a lower total cost of ownership and without high
upfront hardware costs.
AirCrews has a centralized
database and a graphical user interface that gives an airline
scheduling manager quick and easy access to flight crew data.
Similarly, AirOps Movement Manager is used by airline managers to
monitor and schedule flight operations and maintenance. According
to Sabre, both of these applications will work together with other
applications in its portfolio – that Aeropostal has been using –
including its passenger reservations system, flight operations
system, and the PC version of its schedule manager.
Steve Clampett, Sabre
Airline Solutions' president of airline products, says his company
now can deliver over 20 applications, as an ASP, including those
that are considered mission critical.
Aeropostal plans next to
begin using Sabre's AirOps Decision Manager, which helps an
airline pre-plan for potential disruptions, and optimize its
recovery process. 01-12-2004.
