Frontier
Airlines Getting LiveTV for Its A319s
Frontier Airlines says it has
signed a purchase and long-term services agreement with LiveTV to
install satellite receiving equipment on all of its Airbus fleet.
Live television programming for the systems will come from
DIRECTV AIRBORNE, a unit of Hughes Electronics.
Installation of the equipment on
Frontier’s seventeen A319s is scheduled to begin this month, and
should be completed by the end of March next year. As
Frontier’s remaining 15 ordered A319s are delivered from Airbus,
the system will be installed on them as well.
Frontier estimates this process will take about three days
per aircraft.
LiveTV, which is a wholly owned
subsidiary of JetBlue, provides in-flight entertainment systems
for single-aisle commercial aircraft, including live in-seat
satellite television, XM Satellite Radio service, wireless
aircraft datalink service, cabin surveillance systems and Internet
services. 10-10-2002.
