EMS Technologies says its satcom will now work for either standard Aero-H voice or two channels of Swift64 high-speed data.

In an independent flight test, EMS Technologies' HSD-128 aeronautical satcom terminal was successfully interfaced with an existing ARINC 741 satcom system to achieve the higher Swift64 throughput.

According to EMS Technologies, the HSD-128’s dual 64Kbps channels provide two independent connections, or can be combined to deliver the higher data rate of 128Kbps.  The HSD-128 fits into the HPA (high power amplifier) location of a customer’s existing satcom system and shares the same antenna sub-assembly.  In this configuration, additional weight and space is not required when high-speed data capability is added to the aircraft, EMS says.  04-23-2002.
