Ryanair's CAE Sim XXI B-737-800 full-flight simulator has been Level D-qualified by the U.K.’s Civil Aviation Authority. This is the first CAE Sim XXI-designed simulator for a large transport aircraft. Last November, an Emirates-CAE Flight Training’s Gulfstream IV full-flight simulator became the first CAE Sim XXI simulator to be Level-D qualified. The CAE Sim XXI has a modular design based on a Windows platform that was engineered to simplify assembly, test and integration, and to reduce life cycle cost. CAE says it has already helped reduce simulator build-time, and features of the technology are now being applied across CAE’s entire family of training products. 03-22-2004. FlightSafety Global Express Simulator Certified The FAA has certified FlightSafety’s first Global Express full-flight simulator to level “D” at its Greater Philadelphia/Wilmington learning center. The simulator is modeled on Global Express models currently being delivered by Bombardier, including its HUD (head-up display) and EVS (enhanced vision system). The simulator’s cockpit also is equipped with a Honeywell Primus 2000XP avionics suite, TCAS (traffic collision and avoidance system), EGPWS (enhanced ground proximity warning system), GPS, and satellite communications. When combined with the new simulator’s panoramic VITAL 9 visual system, the simulator can present realistic training exercises for low-visibility maneuvers using the HUD/EVS in day or night conditions, FlightSafety says. 03-15-2004. |
