May 2005 Air Canada Jazz took delivery of its first CRJ705a from Bombardier. The carrier ordered 15 CRJ705s and 15 CRJ200s last September. 05-31-2005. Air Austra took delivery of its third ILFC-leased B-777-200ER. The carrier currently operates two 777-200ERs. 05-31-2005. Air France ordered five B-777 Freighters along with options for three more thereby officially launching the new program. The new airplanes will replace Air France B-747-200Fs starting in the fourth quarter of 2008. 05-31-2005. Island Air is replacing three of its eight Dash 8s with Q400s. Delivery will take place in November. 05-31-2005. Boeing will convert three Air France B-747-400 Combis into full freighters as part of the 747-400 Special Freighter program. 05-31-2005. GROB to Use Thales Integrated Electronic Standby Instrument on Ranger 6160 05-23-2005. Emirates took delivery of its fourth B-777-300ER. 05-23-2005. Cebu Pacific received its first A320 that is being leased from CIT Aerospace. A second leased aircraft will be delivered in June. Deliveries of the first of twelve purchased A319s will commence in September 2005 and continue until 2007. The new aircraft will replace existing DC-9s and B-757s. 05-23-2008. BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has signed contracts with SN Brussels Airlines for the sale and leaseback of 23 of 26 Avro RJ85/100s the airline is getting. BAE Systems Regional Aircraft acquire the aircraft in stages over the next five years with long-term leases back to SN Brussels Airlines. 05-23-2008. National Air Services (NAS), which provides private aviation services in the Middle East, signed a letter of intent (LOI) to order three Gulfstream G350s for delivery in 2007. 05-23-2008. Arab Wings Ltd. of Amman, Jordan, signed a purchase agreement for a new Citation XLS that will be used for on-demand charter in the Middle East and Europe. 05-23-2008. Kuwait’s Kharafi group ordered an Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ), based on the A319, for delivery in September this year. The aircraft will also be operated by Twinjet of the U.K. 05-23-2008. Japan’s Sagawa Express Co. Ltd. has established a subsidiary named Galaxy Airlines Co. Ltd., which ordered one A300-600F, plus an option for another. The first A300-600F will be delivered in November 2006 05-23-2008. Ryanair completed its previously announced order for 70 B-737-800s with blended winglets, plus options for up to 70 more. The airline has ordered a total of 225 Boeing 737-800s to date, and has received 82 since 1999. Most of the 70 new airplanes will be delivered between 2008 and 2012. 05-23-2008. Bombardier is introducing a complete family of corporate shuttle jets, called Bombardier Corporate Shuttle Solutions, consisting of Challenger 850s, 870s and 890s, derived from the CRJ200, CRJ700 and CRJ900 regional jet platforms, respectively. 05-23-2008. Sichuan Airlines will purchase six A320s and two A319s for delivery from late 2005 to 2008. Both types will be powered by IAE V2500 engines. 05-23-2008. India's Jet Airways has taken leases on four A330-200s from ILFC for delivery in 2006 and 2007. 05-23-2005. Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings will get four B-747-400 freighters, converted from passenger aircraft by Israel Aircraft Industries and PSF Conversions, starting in late 2007. Atlas also has an option to convert up to six additional 747-400s later. 05-23-2005. ASA's CRJs Being Equipped with Rockwell Collins VDL Mode-2 Datalink 05-21-05 Cessna to Use L-3 Avionics' EFIS on Cessna for Citation CJ1+ and CJ2+ 05-21-05 Air Macau took delivery of the second of two A321-100s from AWAS. 05-18-2005. Copa Airlines converted two options on Embraer 190s to firm orders. Deliveries of the additional aircraft should occur in October and November 2006. 05-16-2005. The FAA has certified the Adam Aircraft A500 centerline twin, powered with Teledyne Continental TSIO-550 powerplants. 05-16-2005. LOT Polish Airlines converted four Embraer 170 options to four firm orders for Embraer 175s. Deliveries will start in the second quarter of 200. The airline still has seven options for 170s that could be converted to 175s, 190s or 195s. 05-16-2005. 05-16-2005. China Southern ordered 12 B-737-700s and 33 B-737-800s. Fifteen of the dash 800s will go to China Southern's subsidiary Xiamen Airlines. Deliveries will run from 2006 to 2008. 05-16-2005. Japan Airlines finalized previously announced orders for 30 B-787s and 30 B-737-800s. 05-16-2005. SkyEurope ordered 16 new B-737-700s, twelve of which will be leased from GECAS (see following item), along with 16 options. The firm orders will be delivered in 2006 and 2007. The 16 options, if exercised, would be delivered in 2008-09. 05-16-2005. GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) agreed to purchase six B-737-700s that will be leased to SkyEurope, along with six other previously ordered 737-700s. Sky Europe is a low-fare airline, based in Bratislava, Slovakia, that currently operates B-737-500s. Deliveries of the new airplanes will begin in 2006 and extend through 2007. 05-16-2005. Gulfstream's Honeywell TFE731-40AR-powered G150 business jet, being built in collaboration with Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) in Tel Aviv, completed its first flight. The aircraft should be type certificated by the Israel Civil Aviation Authority in the first quarter of next year, followed shortly thereafter by validation from the FAA, and entry into service in the third quarter of 2006. 05-09-2005. Dassault Aviation's Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307A-powered Falcon 7X flew for the first time. FAA and EASA certifications are expected in late 2006. 05-09-2005. Embraer will develop a very light jet (VLJ), and a light jet, that will share several main components. The Brazilian manufacturer's VLJ will be powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617Fs, and will carry up to eight people. It is expected to enter service in mid-2008 and have a price of $2.75 million (2005 dollars). The company's light jet will be powered by two P&WC PW535Es and carry up to nine people, with a price of $6.65 million (2005 dollars). It is expected to enter service in mid-2009. 05-09-2005. Air China ordered 11 shipsets of Aviation Partners Boeing Blended Winglets for its B-737-700s. Installation will begin in August and be completed by July 2006. The remainder of the airline's 737NGs may be fitted with the winglets as well. 05-09-2005. Northwest Airlines ordered 18 B-787s along with options and purchase rights for up to 50 more. The airline didn't disclose which version it is buying, but comments made about its seat number and range, suggested they would be 787-8s. Engine selection was not announced. 05-09-2005. Frontier Airlines took delivery of its 38th A319 that is on lease from ILFC. The carrier now operates 38 A319s and seven A318s. 05-09-2005. Czech Airlines took delivery of two new ATR 42-500s, that were part of an order for seven ATR 42-500s placed in December 2003. 05-09-2005. Flexjet has reserved 51 aircraft positions with Bombardier over the next three years to replace existing aircraft and add to its fleet to support new sales of fractional shares. This is in addition to the 16 new aircraft Flexjet added to its fleet since January 1, 2004. More than 60 per cent of Bombardier's planned deliveries to Flexjet will be Learjet 40XRs and Challenger 300s. 05-09-2005. Executive Jet Management (EJM) added a King Air 350, a Citation Ultra, and a Falcon 900EX to its charter fleet in February and March. EJM now manages 101 aircraft in over 60 locations throughout the U.S. 05-02-2005. Boeing delivered its final B-757 to Shanghai Airlines. 05-02-2005. BMED ordered seven A321s, with the first delivery scheduled for January 2006. The airline currently operates three A320s and three A321s. Another A320 will be delivered this month. 05-02-2005. Ukraine International Airlines is leasing a CFM56-3C1-powered B-737-300 from Boullioun Aviation Services. The carrier now has 737s. 05-02-2005. Atlantic Airways, of the Faroe Islands, leased a BAE 146-200 from BAE Systems Regional Aircraft. 05-02-2005. Air-India ordered five GE90-110B-powered B-777-200LRs, 10 GE90-115B-powered B-777-300ERs and 20 B-787-8s, along with options for three 777-200LRs, five 777-300ERs and seven 787-8s, all subject to government approval. An engine selection for the 787s wasn't announced. 05-02-2005. BACK Aviation Solutions unveiled its brand-new Commercial Jet Aircraft Value Guide, which includes current, base and future values for 130 commercial jet aircraft, as well as specific information on such details as aircraft deliveries, orders, range, and engine variants. More information is available at http://www.backaviation.com. 05-02-2005. Kingfisher Airlines took delivery of its first A320 on lease from debis AirFinance. Kingfisher also has placed firm orders for 10 A320s plus 20 options and three A319s. 05-02-2005. Boeing selected General Electric Company's GEnx to power its proposed 747 Advanced airplane. The GEnx engine, currently under development, will produce 55,000 to 72,000 pounds of thrust, but for the Advanced application will be rated at 63,500 to 66,500 pounds. The first full GEnx engine will go to test in 2006, with engine certification scheduled for 2007. 05-02-2005. Copa signed for five firm B-737NGs and took options on 10 more. Deliveries will begin in 2007 and extending through 2009. 05-02-2005. Saudi Arabian Airlines ordered 15 Embraer 170s. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in December. 05-02-2005. DayJet Corporation, which is pioneering the concept of "per-seat, on-demand" jet services, has signed a long-term agreement with Eclipse Aviation for a fleet of next-generation, very light jets (VLJs). DayJet ordered 239 Eclipse 500s and took options to purchase 70 more. Deliveries will begin shortly after the Eclipse 500 receives FAA certification, which scheduled for March, 2006. 05-02-2005. Air Canada agreed to firm orders for 18 B-777s, plus purchase rights for 18 more, in a yet-to-be-determined mix of models. Deliveries of the 777s will begin next year. The airline also agree to 14 firm orders for a mix of B-787-8s and 787-9s, plus options and purchase rights for an additional 46 airplanes. Air Canada's first 787 will be delivered in 2010. 05-02-2005.
