Wingspeed and Novo Ivc Introducing Real-Time Inflight Credit Authorization
Wingspeed Corporation and Novo Ivc are introducing a real-time, inflight credit card authorization
capability for airlines that eliminates the need to store transaction data until the aircraft reaches the ground.
The application leverages Wingspeed's XFIA
communications and computing platform and Novo Ivc's hand-held
point-of-sale system, which the two companies believe will open an array of
new revenue opportunities.
Tim Clifford, Managing Director at Novo Ivc's managing director, said besides addressing a market need,
the system "will reduce bank charges and fraud, while giving airlines the
opportunity to sell higher-value goods in flight."
Wingspeed's XFIA open-architecture, network platform can host a range of flight deck and cabin
applications, which when combined with Wingspeed's
XLLink global communications network, can integrate multiple sub-networks
such as the Iridium Satellite Network, airport-based WiFi and cellular or mobile
communications, making every aircraft a connecting node.
The companies expect the system to be installed and operational this year. 04-26-2008. |
