Wind River and Esterel Partnering to Help Expedite Avionics Development

Wind River and Esterel Technologies are partnering to create a way to expedite the process of developing, building and certifying safety-critical avionics systems.

The idea is to combine Esterel Technologies' SCADE Suite and Display design tools with Wind River's VxWorks ARINC 653 RTOS (real time operating system) in such a way as to directly accept code generated by SCADE's KCG, thus saving some of the time necessary to bring new avionics to market, while minimizing certification and deployment risk.

The partners also believe their joint solution will give platform providers, systems integrators, and application developers, a more cost-effective method of moving from application design and development, to systems integration and certification that is compliant with RTCA DO-297, the standard which controls integrated modular avionics.  02-23-2007.
