WSI Combining Cockpit Weather and SIRIUS Satellite Radio
WSI Corporation is introducing a datalink weather receiver
and a cockpit weather system that will allow pilots to receive both aviation
weather and SIRIUS Satellite Radio programming.
The new WSI
InFlight AV-300 series, replaces WSI's existing AV100 and AV200 product
lines, and offers expanded satellite coverage of
SIRIUS as well as a more robust platform to host future product
enhancements. Owners can choose either the AV-300, which receives WSI's aviation
weather graphics and data service, or the AV-350, which is capable of receiving
both the weather service and satellite radio.
WSI says the new systems' antenna - developed by Micro-Ant -
and datalink receivers - developed by Avidyne - have the same approximate
footprints as current systems so customers should be able to easily transition
to the new hardware. Both systems are compatible with a host of MFDs
(multi-function displays) and EFBs (electronic flight bags).
WSI expects to start shipping the units in August. MSRP (manufacturer suggested retail price)
for the AV-300 receiver and antenna is $4,347, plus installation; MSRP for the
AV-350 system is $5,949 plus installation. Weather data service plans for both
systems start at $29.99 per month. A list of authorized dealers is available at:
