Vietnam to use ADS and CPDLC on Some Routes
Vietnam's Thanh Nien
Daily is reporting that Vietnam will soon use ADS (automatic dependent
surveillance) and CPDLC (controller-pilot datalink communications) to
exchange information with certain flights between Ho Chi Minh City and
Singapore over the East Sea.
The Vietnamese Civil
Aviation Administration announced its intention at a meeting of ICAO's
FANS (Future Air Navigation System) Implementation Team this week in Ho
Chi Minh City. The system will be deployed in March, according to
Vietnamese officials at the meeting.
ADS automatically
downlinks position data from an aircraft without pilot intervention. CPDLC allows for direct exchange of text-based messages between the
controller and pilot instead of traditional voice transmissions.
According to the
report, some controllers at the air traffic control center have already
been trained to use the systems. 01-20-2007. |
