VLM Airlines Selects WSI WeatherAlert
VLM Airlines has
started using Weather Services International's (WSI's) decision support
tool to alert its operational personnel about changes in weather
conditions at all of its network airports.
WeatherAlert provides a graphical presentation visualization of
terminal weather that is always available via any PC with a standard
browser and Internet connection. Color-coded alert thresholds for wind,
ceiling, visibility and RVR (runway visual range) may also be defined
for each airport. Its dynamically updated display can not only help
analyze weather trends, it can give an early warning of deteriorating or
improving weather conditions at a glance.
Frans
Dechaene, who manages VLM Airlines' flight operations, says
personnel in the airline's operations control center are using the
system to proactively anticipate weather related problems and minimize
flight disruptions.
WSI says it currently
supports over 80 commercial aviation customers in Europe. 01-19-2006.
