Universal Weather and Aviation Partnering with Macquarie Consortium
Universal Weather and Aviation has agreed to strategically partner with a consortium comprised of Macquarie
Capital Alliance Group and Macquarie Global Opportunities Partners (the
Consortium), entities both managed by the Macquarie Group.
The agreement was reached on November 20, and will be officially executed within 60 days, assuming
necessary closing conditions and regulatory approvals are satisfactorily
achieved.
Universal, which is headquartered in Houston and has approximately 1,300 employees worldwide, provides trip support
services to business aviation through a FBO (fixed base operator) network. Its UVair division also offers fuel management programs to business aircraft
operators.
Under the terms of the partnership, the Consortium will acquire a 45% financial interest
(approximately) in the company, but Universal Chairman Greg Evans will retain
controlling interest with 55% ownership. Universal will maintain its
operational autonomy and its independent brand. Universal's current leadership
structure will remain the same, but two of Macquarie's officers will assume
roles on the Universal's board of directors. 11-23-2007. |
