Universal Avionics Introducing New Line of WAAS-Enabled FMS
Universal Avionics
Systems Corporation (UASC) is introducing a new product line of WAAS (wide
area augmentation system)-enabled flight management systems for business and
regional jets.
The new suite of FMS,
known as the UNS-1Lw, UNS-1Ew, UNS-1Espw, and UNS-1Fw, are ready to be
approved for all normal en-route operations, including oceanic, and
approaches that include LNAV/VNAV (lateral navigation with vertical
guidance) and LPV (localizer performance with vertical guidance).
According to the
company, the receiver on the new FMS has extensive anti-jamming
capabilities in the RF (radio frequency) hardware and incorporates
all-in-view tracking of up to 12 satellites with a loss-of-lock
re-acquisition time of less than three seconds. It also meets the CWI
(continuous wave interference) specification of RTCA DO-208 and DO-229.
Because the new systems
meet FAA DO229C and DO178B Level B requirements without requiring add-on
sensors, they are ideal for application in both the forward fit and retrofit
markets, according to Paul DeHerrera, Universal Avionics' vice president of
marketing and product support.
The company expects the
FAA to certify the system in this year's 4th-quarter. 03-29-2007. |
