Turkish Airlines to Install AeroMobile Phone System on Single A340
Turkish Airlines will install an AeroMobile phone system on one of its A340s that will allow its passengers to
use their GSM (global system for mobile) devices for voice and text, as well as
GPRS (general packet radio service) email applications, such as BlackBerry, as
if they were on the ground.
AeroMobile says its technology, which
has been undergoing eight months of in-service trials in Australia - ensures
that passenger mobile phones operate at their minimum power settings that allows
their safe use on aircraft and avoids interference to ground telecoms networks.
Turkish Airlines will launch the service on its principle international routes, including flights within
Europe and the Middle East, for which AeroMobile has already received the
appropriate telecommunications regulatory approvals. 01-04-2008. |
