TrueNorth Introducing Integrated Cabin Voice and Data Transceiver
TrueNorth Avionics is
introducing a new integrated cabin communications product line that offers a
fully integrated dual-channel transceiver for voice and data.
The product line, called
Simphone, comes in three versions: Solo, Duo and Chorus.
-
Simphone Solo offers cabin communications via both Inmarsat and
Iridium by providing all industry standard interfaces from POTS (plain
old telephone service) to CEPT-E1 (a Conference Europeenne (des) Postes
(et) Telecommunications standard referring to high-speed data rates).
-
Simphone Duo has the features of Solo, but also includes a fully
integrated dual-channel Iridium transceiver for voice and data, and has
an "exclusive" digital interface to improve Iridium's voice quality.
-
Simphone Chorus is the company's fully integrated system, which has
features of Solo and Duo, but also provides integrated Wi-Fi,
data-routing, and firewall capabilities for high speed data and future
broadband.
TrueNorth also has an IP
(Internet protocol), multi-media cabin handset,
Alto, that features a "large" sunlight readable color display with a
noise-canceling microphone.
Simphone is available for
new and retrofit installations, and is a simple replacement option for
Magnastar owners that increases capability without sacrificing cabin handset
functionality and style, TrueNorth says.
The system uses a single
4 MCU (modular concept unit)-sized avionics LRU (line replaceable unit) that
is qualified to DO-160E requirements for installations inside or outside an
aircraft's pressured cabin. All system setup and configuration is performed
via a Web-based GUI (graphical user interface) and stored in an
aircraft-mounted Simphone personality module.
TrueNorth says Simphone
will be sold and supported through a worldwide dealer network using its
dealer hotline and interactive Web-based portal. 04-08-2007. |
