Three Norway Airports to Use Barco's Arrival Management Software
Avinor, Norway's ANSP (air navigation service provider), has
selected Barco's arrival management system for three airports in southeast
Norway including Oslo's Gardermoen.
The action means that Barco's
OSYRIS Arrival Manager will be integrated with the Norwegian air traffic
control system, to more efficiently manage arriving air traffic within the Oslo
AoR (area of responsibility). Barco will also provide the safety case for
the system to the Norwegian regulator.
Barco says its OSYRIS Arrival Manager is part of its OSYRIS
COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) product suite that was designed from
requirements developed by ANSP and industry research. Because of its
"excellent" portability and open interfaces, the OSYRIS Arrival Manager can be
smoothly integrated with current ATC systems, Barco says.
For this project, the application software will be tailored
to meet the specific operational requirements and procedures of Oslo's
Gardermoen, including flexible runway allocation.
The system's graphical user interface will be built on Barco's
ODS Toolbox, which Avinor has already used for implementing other
operational display systems throughout Norway.
According to Barco, its Arrival Manager has become the arrival management application of
choice for many ANSPs including Eurocontrol, Switzerland's Skyguide, the CAA of
Singapore, and Nav Canada, as well as Raytheon and Lockheed Martin. It forms
the kernel of Skyguide's CALM (computer-assisted approach and landing management
system), which went operational at Zurich's Kloten airport in March 2001, and
recently at Singapore's Changi. 07-24-2007. |
