Thales to Provide Avionics Suite for New ATR 42-600 and 72-600
ATR selected Thales to provide the avionics suite for its new ATR 42-600 and ATR
72-600 aircraft. Thales will be the tier-one systems integrator for the
aircraft's cockpits and will integrate components provided by other suppliers.
The new glass flight deck for the two models will include five LCDs (liquid crystal
displays), supplied by Thales, as well as their flight management,
communications and navigation systems. The latter will include GNSS/WAAS (global
navigation satellite system/wide area augmentation system) capability ready for
RNP (required navigation performance) operations, as well as a new CAT IIIa-enabled
autopilot.
The cockpit architecture in both aircraft will be will based on the IMA (integrated
modular avionics) concept.
Stéphane Mayer, ATR's chief executive officer, said, "We chose Thales due to their capability to deliver the
latest technologies, combined with their ability to customize their offering to
meet ATR requirements." 10-28-2007. |
