Techspace Aero Develops a Booster for Cleaner Engines
Techspace Aero says it has developed an engine module that can reduce aircraft
engine noise and CO2 emissions.
The company's module includes a low-pressure compressor developed under the European
VITAL program (an R&D effort for greener aero engines), along with the engine's
fan, intermediate casing and sump.
The technologies developed by
Techspace Aero, which is a subsidiary of the SAFRAN Group Belgian, are aimed
at making this module more compact and lighter while improving aerodynamic
performances. It has partnered several Belgian companies and research centers (GDTech,
Cenearo and the von Karman Institute) in this undertaking, and with the Central
Institute of Aviation Motors (CIAM) located in Moscow. The module will be tested
at CIAM to validate the technologies used. 12-16-2007. |
