Stratos Introducing BGAN Mobile Satellite Service to Japanese Market
Stratos Global Corp. is
broadening its partnership with Japan Digital Communications (JDC) to introduce
Inmarsat's BGAN (broadband global area network) mobile satellite service to the
Japanese market.
Stratos - which uses
lightweight terminals to provide simultaneous, high-speed data (up to 492 kbps)
and voice connectivity virtually anywhere in the world - says it's the world's
largest distributor of
Inmarsat's BGAN service; Tokyo-based JDC is one of Japan's leading providers
of satellite equipment and services.
When Inmarsat introduced BGAN
service in December 2005, the service was available to Japanese customers from
Stratos and JDC, but only for use outside Japan. Later, BGAN became available
from the partners in South Japan, but now the two companies will make BGAN
available throughout Japan when Inmarsat launches its third I-4 communications
satellite, planned for next year. 07-01-2007. |
