Starling's Broadband Antenna Achieves "Record Performance"
Starling Advanced Communication says its new Ku-band fuselage-mounted antenna
for airliners achieved "record performance" for high bandwidth communications
during recent flight testing.
Starling's
MIJET satcom antenna system was installed on a B-737 for the evaluation,
which involved a full range of typical communications applications, conducted
simultaneously by multiple users, including video conferencing, VoIP (voice over
Internet protocol) calls (using Skype), large file downloads, emails, and Web
surfing.
The antenna exceeded nominal specifications, Starling said, achieving a reception bit rate of more than 20
Mbps and transmission bit rate of more than 5 Mbps, while maintaining continuous
broadband connectivity with the Amos satellite at different altitudes and
aircraft attitudes. 09-07-2007. |
