Singapore's Changi to Deploy Stratech Systems' FOD Runway Surveillance

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will deploy a Stratech Systems runway surveillance system at Singapore's Changi Airport to reduce the dangers and damage of FOD (foreign object debris) in real-time.

Scratch's iFerret system continuously inspects a runway between flights with self-calibrating cameras, automated scene analysis, and configurable scan resolution, to differentiate object sizes.  Stretch says the system not only detects FOD, it classifies their type, and pinpoints their location.

When FOD is detected, tower controllers are immediately notified.

CAAS will deploy Stretch's iFerret system along Changi's Runways 1 and 2. As part of their contract, Stratech will customize the system to meet Changi's specific requirements, maintain it, and provide upgrades.  03-03-2008.
