Singapore to Retrofit Its B-777s with Rockwell Collins' Newest Satcom

Singapore Airlines will retrofit, as well as forward fit, its B-777s with Rockwell Collins' latest high-speed satellite data transceiver, partly to facilitate its newly installed EFB (electronic flight bag) system. The program will involve 58 aircraft.

Under their agreement, Rockwell Collins will replace Singapore's existing satcom system with its new SAT-2100, which can provide multi-channel voice and data capabilities within a single 8 MCU package. When coupled with Rockwell Collins' HST 2110 high speed terminal, the SAT-2100 enables Inmarsat's Swift64 or SwiftBroadband service for broadband connectivity.

Rockwell says the SAT-2100 has been certified on the B-747-400 as well as the B-777, and has been selected for the B-787.  05-11-2007.
