Sikorsky to Offer Flightscape's Flight Data Monitoring Program
Sikorsky Aircraft will
offer Flightscape's flight data monitoring capability for its S-76 and S-92
helicopters.
The ground-based system,
called Helicopter Flight Data Monitoring (HFDM), can play back flight data
recorded by Goodrich's HUMS (health and usage monitoring system) on the S-92
and the EXVP HUMS on the S-76, to assess how the aircraft are being
operated.
Sikorsky sees
Flightscape's monitoring and analysis services as an important
augmentation to the aircraft's existing HUMS that can help with the
troubleshooting of aircraft operational issues, and an addition to its
continuing
safety initiatives.
Marc Poland, Sikorsky's
vice president of commercial programs, said his company liked how easy
Flightscape's software was to use, its viewing and analysis flexibility, and
its ability to be customized for a specific operator's preferences. Eric
Hansen, Sikorsky S-76 program manager, added that the system's ability to
play back a flight with three-dimensional animation while viewing certain
key parameters and automatically flagging maneuvers of concern also was an
important factor in the company's decision.
Sikorsky and Flightscape
will develop the S-76 and S-92 operational event sets and associated
algorithms during the coming months that will be supported by Sikorsky's new
commercial aircraft flight management operations center. 06-02-2007. |
