Shandong Selects Rockwell Collins's HUD, Other Avionics for B-737-800s
Shandong Airlines selected a
suite of Rockwell Collins avionics for its 18 new B-737-800s that includes a HGS
(head-up guidance system), hazard detection radar, and audio/video IFE
(in-flight entertainment).
Rockwell Collins's Model 4000
HGS will allow Shandong's pilots to operate to low-visibility minima at some
Chinese airports that were previously unavailable, and will provide the airline
with a platform for new technologies, such as enhanced vision and surface
guidance.
Shandong's B-737s will have
Rockwell's
MultiScan WXR-2100 radar which goes beyond simply reflecting atmospheric
moisture content to analyze returns to better determine their actual hazard
potential. And its fully automatic, hands-free operation can detect weather out
to 320 miles.
Shandong's B-737 passengers
will have access to Rockwell's
PAVES IFE that features 10.4-inch retractable overhead liquid crystal
displays, and 22 channels of digital in-seat audio programming.
Other Rockwell products chosen
by Shandong include the
GLU-920 MMR (multi mode receiver) service,
ADF-900 automatic direction finder,
VOR-900 VHF omnidirectional radio, DFA-901 direction finding antenna,
DME-900 distance measuring equipment,
HFS-900 and HFS-900D/ CPL-920D high frequency communication system and
antenna coupling unit, LRA-900 low-range radio altimeter,
VHF-920 very high frequency transceiver,
TPR-901 mode-S transponder, and
ACAS 900 airborne collision avoidance system. 07-07-2007. |
