Sensis Launches Next-Generation Vehicle Locator Unit
Sensis is introducing the next generation of its vehicle locator unit that incorporates an improved WAAS (wide
area augmentation system)-enabled GPS receiver and broadcasts its location and
identity using a Mode-S (select) ES (extended squitter) ADS-B (automatic
dependent surveillance-broadcast) message format.
Tony Lo Brutto, Sensis Air Traffic Systems' vice president and general manager, said his company's
VeeLo NextGen is a "significant evolution" from its first
commercial-off-the-shelf product, in that its augmented GPS technology will give
it "the highest accuracy available and is the first on the market to
automatically turn off the 1090 MHz transmission when outside of the movement
area."
The VeeLo unit can be easily mounted on a vehicle's exterior and moved to another when necessary. It
can be connected to a vehicle's accessory power outlet, and field-configured
using a PC serial interface and NextGen software.
Sensis says it will begin delivering the units this spring. 03-14-2008. |
