San Diego Launches New Collaborative Version of Passur for Airport Communities
Megadata Corporation says
San Diego International Airport (SDIA) has become the first customer to
launch the new collaborative version of its PASSUR Web-based software
designed to serve as an education tool for airport communities.
PASSUR's
AirportMonitor provides an interactive display of air traffic and flight
information in and around the airport to give nearby residents a view of
traffic in "near-live" and replay mode, along with an assortment of
user-friendly online tools designed to answer questions about specific
flight behavior. The idea is to promote openness and trust between nearby
residents and the airport.
AirportMonitor's newest
patented version includes:
- Airport
messaging that allows airport managers to instantly notify residents
about airspace conditions which might be affecting noise. (These
messages are transmitted via PASSUR's online password access messaging
tools, developed for
Portal and
OPSnet.)
- The ability for
residents to pinpoint their home on AirportMonitor's background map by
entering their address.
Dan Frazee, SDIA's deputy
director for airport noise mitigation, said, the airport wanted "to reach
out to our noise-impacted community in an innovative, proactive way," and
the enhanced version of PASSUR's AirportMonitor "allows us to communicate
the 'whys' and 'what's' of noise events immediately, online, and within a
compelling visual display of the airspace." 03-11-2007. |
