SITA Creates R&D Facility for Aviation Technology Research
SITA has created a technology research facility that will work independently and in
partnership with others to spur innovation for the air transport industry.
The Geneva-based facility, called SITA Lab, will be led by the company's chief
technology officer, Jim Peters, and will be open to employees as well as
customers and partners, to generate, capture and evaluate new ideas. Those
deemed to have the greatest potential will be incubated within the Lab using
rapid prototyping, and joint customer pilots, on a per project basis, with the
objective of creating new SITA products and services.
SITA, which will spend $110 million this year on research and product development, says it's
launching this new initiative to provide a facility outside of its normal
business process to conduct strategic technology research.
While announcing the initiative, SITA's CEO, Francesco Violante, said: "The speed of new
technology development requires a dedicated focus on how these technologies can
be incorporated into SITA's portfolio of solutions for the air transport
industry." 01-19-2008. |
