Rockwell Collins Tests MultiScan Radar on Global Flights
Aviation Week & Space
Technology is reporting (July 8, 2007) that Rockwell Collins tested its
weather-hazard detection system in parts of Europe, Africa, South America and
the Caribbean over a recent three-week period to determine how it performs in
different regions - since thunderstorms don't behave the same way everywhere.
The primary goal of the
MultiScan test flights, which were accomplished using a Boeing Business Jet,
was to note any false alarms and differences in detecting any weather hazards at
cruise altitude over dissimilar geographic areas, including oceans.
