Riga's Airport to use Era's Wide-Area Multilateration and ADS-B
Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme (LGS) has selected Era to provide a wide-area
surveillance system for the airspace surrounding the Riga International
Airport. In 2005, the airport selected Era to track aircraft, as
well as vehicles, on the airport's surface.
Era's system will use its
MSS sensors, which in a typical wide-area system would consist of five
receiving stations, a CPS (central processing station), a combined IMT
(interrogator and monitoring transponder), one or more terminals making up
its RCMS (remote control and monitoring system), and a controller working
position.
This Riga implementation will extend the
airport's surveillance coverage out to a distance of at least 80 nautical
miles, Era says, and will provide higher accuracy, greater update rates, and
improved reliability when compared to conventional radar, not to mention
what will be a "much lower initial cost" and "lower annual maintenance
costs." 04-20-2007. |
