RTCA Offering New Document for FANS and ATN Interoperability

RTCA is offering a new document describing interoperability standards for aircraft equipped with FANS 1/A (future air navigation system) datalink and aircraft equipped with ATN (aeronautical telecommunication network) datalink, to operate in the same environment.

The document, which was prepared by RTCA's SC (special committee) 186, was developed to enable ATSPs (air traffic service providers) to communicate with datalink equipped aircraft, regardless of their installed technology.
