QinetiQ and COMSOFT to Develop ADS-B and Multilateration Technology

QinetiQ and COMSOFT have agreed to jointly develop and market a technology with ADS-B (automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast) and multilateration capability.

The companies believe their new system, dubbed Quadrant, can complement existing radars, or ultimately to replace them for about one tenth of their cost.

The Quadrant concept is possible because of the move towards the universal use of Mode S equipment in both civil and military aircraft, according to the companies.

Their arrangement provides for COMSOFT to manufacturer and market Quadrant exclusively in cooperation with QinetiQ.  The two companies also plan to collaborate on a range of other QinetiQ ATM products and services.  07-21-2006.
