Qantas Using Amadeus Load Control System
Qantas is using a new Amadeus-developed load control system
at its Sydney and Melbourne load control centers.
John Willett, the airline's chief information officer, says Qantas expects the Amadeus system, known as
Altéa Departure Control (Fly), to calculate aircraft loads more efficiently
and accurately than was previously possible by receiving data directly from the
airline's load planning, freight, fuelling and airport information systems,
thereby removing existing manual processes.
Mr. Willet noted the importance of the system's auto load
function, which ensures items to be loaded onto the aircraft are automatically
designated to positions to optimize fuel efficiency and streamline loading and
unloading. He added that Qantas liked its Windows-based graphic user interface,
which makes the application more intuitive and easier for load controllers to
use.
Qantas began rolling out the new system in June after completing trials that included running
Altéa alongside its old systems. 07-24-2007. |
