Qantas Completes Carmen Crew Pairing Handover

Qantas has completed its handover of Jeppesen's Carmen Crew Pairing optimization software.

Qantas has already used crew pairings produced in an outsourcing agreement by Jeppesen's Service Bureau for over six months for all 8,500 of its crew members, after the Carmen project at Qantas was initialized in December 2005, and its first crew pairings were produced in May 2006.

Jan-Olof Ohlsson, Jeppesen's director of crew and fleet solutions, said of the project that Jeppesen wanted to prove its system in an operational environment; such as exists at Qantas, with its worldwide, long-haul flights, many bases, many crew positions, and complex interdependencies.  01-29-2007.
