Piper to Make Garmin's G1000 an Option on Saratoga II TC and 6X
Piper Aircraft will make
Garmin's fully integrated G1000 avionics suite available as an option on its
Saratoga II TC and Piper 6X models.
Piper's
G1000 system will include all primary flight, navigation, autopilot,
terrain avoidance, communication, engine, and aircraft sensor data on dual
10-inch displays, and has Garmin's latest G1000 enhancements including
SafeTaxi and FliteCharts.
SafeTaxi is a built-in
database of over 750 U.S. airport diagrams that provide the capability to
view aircraft position on taxiways. FliteCharts are electronic versions of
approach charts and airport diagrams, including NACO (National Aeronautical
Charting Office) DPs (departure procedures) and STARS (standard terminal
arrival routes) that may be viewed directly on the system's MFD
(multifunction display).
The system is also
expandable, making it possible to add new technologies and capabilities, as
they become available. The avionics suite is WAAS (wide area augmentation
system) certified and offers outstanding situational awareness for flight
management, aircraft control, traffic, terrain and weather.
Other notable features
include:
- GPS navigation with
WAAS (wide area augmentation system) that will provide LPV (localizer
performance with vertical guidance) capability.
- A choice to add
Jeppesen ChartView to access Jeppesen's library of electronic charts and
airport diagrams to display on the MFD.
- An optional class-B
TAWS (terrain awareness and warning system) with a worldwide terrain and
obstacle database that doesn't require an external LRU (line replaceable
unit).
- Optional satellite
weather datalink and audio via XM Satellite Radio.
- An optional digital
audio control system.
