Pentastar Aviation to Install First SKYLink System on a Falcon 2000
ARINC says Pentastar
Aviation will install a SKYLink system on a customer's Dassault Falcon 2000,
making it the first Dassault business jet to have this broadband
communications equipment.
SKYLink has developed a
new avionics package, with a narrower antenna mount, designed to fit the
radome dimensions of Dassault Falcon 50s and 900s as well as the 2000
series, without any change to its performance. The new package also can be
installed on Bombardier BD100s, and all of Bombardier's Challenger and
Global series.
ARINC has started DO-160E
testing of the new antenna hardware and expects to finish by June.
Pentastar Aviation, based in Waterford, Michigan, is SKYLink's newest
U.S. channel partner. It expects to obtain an STC (supplemental type
certificate) for the Falcon 2000 and complete its first SKYLink installation
in September.
According to ARINC,
SKYLink is the world's only satellite broadband communications system
for business aircraft. Its Ku-band satellite coverage extends from Eastern
Europe to the Pacific coast of the United States. ARINC just announced that
its
North Atlantic coverage will be expanded soon as well, following the
recent activation of a new Loral SkyNet satellite. 05-18-2007. |
