Ornge to Use Latitude Technologies' Satcom
Ornge, which provides aero-medical transport services over much of Ontario, will use Latitude
Technologies' satellite phones for its air to ground communications.
The Canadian medical emergency responder operates from 26 bases across the province where
reliable air-to-ground communications can be a challenge, because much of its
geography is in remote areas.
Latitudes'
Skynode S200 will be installed immediately in all Ornge Sikorsky S76 rotor
wing aircraft and its King Air 200. In addition, Ornge acquired 15 portable
handsets from Latitude for additional communication capability while on sight
during emergency responses.
Ornge chose the S200 because its "the smallest, lightest device to provide voice, flight tracking, and
two-way data communication for aircraft anywhere on the planet," said Harlan
Hamlin, Latitude's vice-president of business development. 10-08-2007. |
