Naverus to Help Copa Airlines Assess Its Readiness for RNP
Copa Airlines has engaged Naverus to perform an RNP (required navigation performance) "readiness assessment," which will evaluate a
number of determining factors for the Panamanian airline, including operational,
safety and financial benefits, and compliance with RNP regulatory requirements.
A team of Naverus experts began the project in early August
at Copa's Panama City headquarters, to specifically examine how RNP would affect
the carrier's operations at the international airports of Tocumen (PTY) and
Howard (HOW). The team will access all aspects of the operational approval
process for Copa, including a survey of its flight crews.
RNP combines the capabilities of advanced aircraft avionics, the accuracy of GPS, and new flight procedures, to achieve safer and
more efficient flight operations - which of course also reduces emissions.
Naverus believes its carefully engineered flight paths can maximize these
benefits for its customers.
David Hathaway, Naverus' vice president of professional services, says that
these
readiness assessments "are an easy way for airlines to learn what RNP has to
offer, and how much they can specifically benefit from it." 09-05-2007. |
