Nav Canada to Reduce Service Charges by 4%

Nav Canada will reduce its customer service charges by a total of four percent effective August 1, 2007.

The total will include a three percent reduction already announced, that will become effective on the first of August, one month ahead of the original proposed date of September 1, 2007.  In addition, the Company has decided to add a temporary one percent reduction for the period August 1, 2007 to August 31, 2008.

John Crichton, Nav Canada's president & CEO, said the reductions will save Nav Canada's customers approximately $50 million in fiscal 2008.

This is the second consecutive year that the ANSP (air navigation service provider) has reduced its charges, following a reduction of 1.8 percent on average that went into effect on September 1, 2006.

With this decrease, Nav Canada says its service charges will have grown only six percent since they were fully implemented in 1999, which is about 14 percentage points below Canada's growth in inflation.
